Yesterday, November 3, 2025, the SIAMED WEB Launch took place, the digital platform of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) of Guatemala, which is considered a tool that will allow the Department of Regulation and Control of Pharmaceutical and Related Products (DRCPFA) to optimize processes.
This platform was born from the collaboration between the public and private sectors (Chamber of Industry and its Pharmaceutical Guild) to strengthen the operational capacity of the General Directorate of Regulation, Surveillance and Health Control (DRVCS).
At the event, which was attended by AARSA representatives, the following were present: the Vice President of the Republic, the Minister of Health, the Vice Minister of Health, the Director of the General Directorate of Regulation, Surveillance and Health Control, the President of the Chamber of Industry and technical representatives from the Chamber of Industry and the Ministry of Health, who were in charge of demonstrating the platform’s functionality.
Authorities highlighted the collaborative work in streamlining processes and strengthening the country’s institutions. They also emphasized the importance of digitalization within the Ministry of Health and the improvement in transparency, accessibility and availability of quality medicines. Finally, the creation of modules within SIAMED WEB was mentioned to facilitate self-management and ensure transparency in public health services.
The digitalization process was an obligation established in the Law on Simplification of Administrative Procedures, therefore it came into force immediately, resuming thereby the collection of fees for each transaction that had been suspended.
During the launch, the platform was accessed and the different regulatory procedures that will be carried out through it were explained. Likewise, attendees were asked to provide feedback, as the platform may be subject to improvements.
